The Glacier Story

Situated in Peterborough, Ontario, Glacier Bikes began offering high quality bikes in 2005 that combined European styling with a Canadian influence. This philosophy, which has continued throughout the years, was born out of several different sources of inspiration.

Nature

Peterborough is situated just north of the Oak Ridges Moraine, which gets its name from the rolling hills and river valleys that were formed 12,000 years ago by advancing and retreating glaciers. As cyclists ourselves, the variety of riding options found on the back country roads of the Kawarthas, along with access to the Ganaraska Forest demanded, that we have the best quality rides possible to enjoy the riding experience.

Pride

As fans of the sport of cycling we asked ourselves “why should the Italians and the French be the only ones offering exotic and rare high end bicycles”. We wanted to put Canada on the cycling map by offering our own high end exotic bike.

Need

We observed other cyclists and discovered that enjoyment of the ride is the biggest factor in riding more often, not the fashion of the ride. With our collective experience in cycling, product design, and quality assurance, we continually create an inspiring riding experience for our customers while making sure that we do not lose sight of what got us in the business in the first place; to make a real high end bike for the real rider.
